WhatsApp is said to be in the process of developing a fresh look for its Android application.
According to reports, the popular messaging app owned by Meta is making adjustments to the appearance of its interface, mainly focusing on the top bar and various user interface elements.
In this updated design, the top bar color is white, and other UI elements on the top bar have been changed to green.
The new design for WhatsApp has reportedly been seen in the WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.23.18.18, available through the Google Play Beta program.
This new design is not yet visible to all beta testers. Furthermore, WhatsApp has recently enabled the option to send high-definition photos and videos, adding to its list of features.
According to a report from WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp features tracker, the messaging app is currently developing a fresh interface for its Android application.
The redesigned interface was reportedly identified in the Android beta version 2.23.18.18, accessible through the Google Play Beta program. However, the updated design is still in the developmental stage and is not yet visible to all beta testers.
The report includes a screenshot showcasing the new design. The screenshot highlights a white top app bar and various UI elements in a green shade, such as the app name.
Notably, the navigation bar has been repositioned to the bottom of the application. This potential WhatsApp redesign could be a strategic step by Meta to align its interface with Google’s recently introduced Material Design 3 guidelines.
WhatsApp’s upgraded Android user interface is set to arrive in a future update, possibly even before the official release.
The messaging platform is also working on a redesigned iOS app, as noted by changes spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta update for iOS (version 23.17.1.77) within the TestFlight app.
