WhatsApp has just revealed an upcoming feature that will let you use two accounts at the same time. This means you can easily switch between two different accounts within a single WhatsApp instance.
Until now, people needed to carry two phones to manage two WhatsApp accounts, but WhatsApp is changing that by enabling the use of two accounts on a single phone. Some phone manufacturers like Xiaomi and Oppo have already offered app cloning features for multiple WhatsApp instances.
WhatsApp stated in a blog post, “Helpful for switching between accounts – such as your work and personal – now you no longer need to log out each time, carry two phones or worry about messaging from the wrong place.”
The upcoming feature will simplify how you handle chats on different accounts, such as one for work and another for talking to friends and family. It’s going to be available in the next few weeks.
Meta points out that for setting up a second account, you’ll still require a different phone number, SIM card, or a phone that supports multi-SIM or eSIM functionality. Additionally, you’ll need the second phone or its SIM card to receive a one-time passcode via SMS, which WhatsApp will send to access your second account on another device.
Once this initial verification is complete, the app will function for both accounts without the need for a second device or SIM, as stated by WhatsApp spokesperson Ellie Heatrick.
