To connect with the younger generation, the app, owned by Meta, is introducing some new features. These features are in the testing phase and could be available to users in the coming months.
The new features include birthday reminders, audio notes, selfie video notes, and multiple lists for Stories. Instagram believes these additions will empower the younger generation to express themselves and share content effortlessly on the platform.
At a Meta event in Delhi, the company introduced these new Instagram features designed specifically for Generation Z.
Instagram already enables users to celebrate their loved one’s birthdays, and now, the app will also assist users in remembering their friends’ birthdays. Users can achieve this by adding new pictures or effects, such as confetti, to their profile pictures.
Instagram is simplifying the process of adding notes. These can be audio or selfie video notes, which have become quite popular for sharing quick updates. You can find them in the DM section at the top of your messages.
The Audio Notes feature allows you to record voice messages as notes, while Selfie Video Notes make it easy to create short video notes that last for 24 hours.
The highly anticipated feature on Instagram is the introduction of Multiple Lists in Stories. Until now, users could make a list of their Close Friends to share specific Stories with.
But now, you can create multiple lists for different groups, like your university friends or office colleagues. This way, you can select who gets to see each story, making it easier to share with specific sets of people.
